The Sierra de Aracena mountain range, which stretches from the north of Huelva Province to the western edge of the Sierra Morena, covers an area of 184,000 hectares. Its forest are typically Mediterranean, essentially composed of holm oak and cork trees, and interspersed with wide tracts of pasture. There are also many ancient chestnut trees and gall oaks, alternating with orchards in the valleys. Other arboreal species exists as well, such as the Poplar, the White poplar and the Olive. Some areas have been replanted with pines, particulary varieties of maritime and stone pine. There is and abundacne of Rock roses, "jarguazos" and "estepillas" and miniature rock roses together with aromatic "labiadas", like Rosemary and Red Lavender, and as easy to find are the Lentiscus and the cornicabra. |
